The County Line
The County Line BBQ, located at 1226 NE 63rd, in
Oklahoma City, is a local legend. It's not just because
they serve some of the best BBQ, either.
The County Line restaurant is in a building (constructed in
either the late 1920s or early 1930s) once known as the
Kentucky Club. The Club was a prohibition era
"speakeasy." Basically, a customer could find just about
any vice they wanted, be it drinks, gambling, or "other
activities" that we'll leave to your imagination.
All of the information I could find (so far) on the
subject states that famous outlaw Pretty Boy
Floyd frequented the club, as well as some
other famous Oklahomans.
The building has been preserved nicely, and it
seems to be in good shape. Walking in, I can't
help but get a feel of those old days. 1940s
music is always coming out of the speakers,
and the restaurant is decorated much like it
would have been in times past.

So, if you're ever in the area, and want some great BBQ with your history, drop by the
County Line. You never know who you'll see. Some of the workers seem to think
some of the old visitors still drop by.
